What to Look for in a Cloud Hosting Provider

A recent study by KPMG on federal cloud adoption reveals main drivers, demotivators and tips for what to look for in a cloud hosting provider for both private and the public sector. The study reported findings on governments, citizens, cloud service providers and IT leaders.

PCI Compliance Status Breaches

Security is a major concern when it comes to the cloud, but certification could help – while 47 percent of government respondents cite security as their most significant concern, nearly 80 percent claimed they would be more confident if cloud services were certified by a government entity.

HIT '12 Conference Recap

HIPAA Packages

Online Tech attended the HIT '12 (Health Information Transformation) Conference in Jacksonville, Florida from April 3rd-4th. Over 600 attendees and 20 vendors took part in panel discussions about health IT; with the theme of the conference, "Leveraging IT to Improve Healthcare Delivery."

Our own April Sage, Director of Healthcare Vertical, participated in a panel discussion alongside Shahid Shah and Ron Cowan discussing "PHI in the Cloud." Topics included: privacy, protection, auditing, ROI, and developing a checklist while going alongside these processes.

Online Tech plans to continue attend many more healthcare IT events over the next few months, including HIMSS Chicago Chapter Meeting at the end of April, iHT2 Health IT Summit Conference in Ft. Lauderdale in early June, and the HIMSS Midwest Chapter Meeting in Iowa in October.

Comparing Cloud vs. Traditional Server-Based EHR/RCM Systems

In March, Satish Malnaik, CEO of NextServices joined us for a webinar "Comparing Cloud vs. Traditional Server-Based EHR/RCM Systems."

In this webinar, Satish discussed cloud computing, current and future trends, and how it compares to traditional server-based EHR/RCM systems that most companies deploy with today.

Some key takeaways taken during the webinar include inoperability, meaningful use, practical implementation of EHR/RCM systems and whether clouds are safer or riskier for PHI security.

HIPAA Compliant SaaS

When Healthmaster decided to offer our products in a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) Model, we did not want to recreate the data center environment. Online Tech was able to provide that for us without all of the front end investment required to offer our SaaS products.
