A recent survey from HCPro found just 17 percent of respondents are fully prepared for the upcoming HIPAA audits, the report said. Furthermore, 70 percent said they are only somewhat prepared for the audits that the OCR will begin performing in the near future.
Many organizational leaders told HCPro that they are having a hard time implementing HIPAA-compliant systems because senior management is hesitant to commit the resources necessary to follow the standards, according to the news source. One respondent actually told HCPro that most companies simply lack the time to devote consistent energies toward HIPAA compliance.
Businesses can overcome these time and resource challenges by outsourcing their IT systems to a HIPAA compliant hosting provider. In turn, this creates more time for other HIPAA-related initiatives.
