Cloud computing continuing to mature

Cloud computing continuing to mature

While cloud computing has already emerged as a key technology for many businesses, it is still maturing and evolving. According to a recent InfoWorld report, this maturation will position the cloud to grow during the next few years.

One major area of evolution for the cloud is in the way it is formed to fit enterprise needs. The relative immaturity of the cloud has led to many businesses deploying solutions and models that do not necessarily fit their operational or regulatory needs. As the technology itself matures and businesses gain a better awareness of what it has to offer, finding the right cloud fit will become more likely, the report said.

This will allow companies to implement cloud models that suit them best. For example, companies that are focused on security may be more likely to turn to private cloud hosting and similar solutions.

As cloud computing continues to mature, businesses are focusing on new ways to take advantage of the technology. For example, eWeek reported a growing number of organizations are turning to the cloud for big data after seeing the topic dominate the recent Cloud Expo conference.
