MDwise partners with Online Tech for Data Protection as a Service provider http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/mdwise-partners-with-online-tech-for-data-protection-as-a-service-provider http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/mdwise-partners-with-online-tech-for-data-protection-as-a-service-provider

November 7, 2017, Indianapolis Ind. -- Online Tech is proud to announce that it has been selected as the data protection vendor of choice for MDWise, an Indiana-based company that specializes in providing healthcare companies to families in need and covers more than 350,000 members for the state of Indiana.

Stringent laws in Indiana require all healthcare related information to be stored for at least seven years, and in some cases, 10 years. MDwise was looking for a solution that would retain and archive their data in a way that was effective, accessible, and compliant with federal HIPAA regulations.

According to John Goerges, Director of IT at MDwise, they needed a new HIPAA compliant backup and disaster recovery solution that would allow them to grow their data footprint without increasing storage size and costs. Goerges found a solution with Online Tech's Data Protection as a Service (OT DPaaS).

OT DPaaS restores large files faster and more frequently than traditional backup, with no proprietary deduplication of data. In addition, clients can choose their own backup windows, and data is retrievable within hours rather than days. MDwise also paired Online Tech's DPaaS with their Disaster Recovery as a Service solution, giving them a strong business continuity strategy.

"We chose Online Tech because we're a very data driven company, and we have a need for security and HIPAA compliancy--that was a big thing for us," Goerges said. "We chose them because of the efficiency of their solutions, fully redundant data center, cost, and most importantly, their focus on compliance."

Online Tech has been independently audited with 100% compliance of the Health and Human services HIPAA standards since 2011. Keeping with their culture of compliance, Online Tech also regularly reports against PCI DSS, SSAE16/SOC 1, and SOC 2 safeguards.

"MDwise is doing a wonderful service to uninsured patients, and we are excited to be able to help them carry out their mission," said Jason Yaeger, Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Solutions. "Our Data Protection as a Service will provide them with the backups, security, and availability their patients demand."

Goerges said he was pleased with service, protection and compliancy he has gotten from Online Tech.

"We have the assurance with the backups that we aren't locked in to one product anymore," he said. "We don't have any concerns about the ability to store our backups or having to purchase new hardware. We know our data is protected per HIPAA standards, because it's encrypted at rest and in motion. If we need to retrieve from long term data archiving, it's in the cloud, so it's retrievable in hours or minutes rather than days because we're waiting for an offsite vendor to deliver external hard drives."

October 9, 2017, Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Online Tech is pleased to continue serving its long standing partner ModuleMD, an innovator in the healthcare industry. ModuleMD provides cloud-based electronic health records, practice management and data interoperability solutions, as well as comprehensive medical billing and revenue management services to medical practices nationwide.

As a cloud-based and ONC certified EHR system, ModuleMD saves clients the cost and stress of securely housing healthcare data on premise at their practice locations. In 2011, ModuleMD sought to offer a more robust, HIPAA-secure data storage environment for its customers, and needed an IT partner with extensive knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH requirements surrounding data storage, retrieval, security, disaster recovery and redundancy, to meet the demands of their growing healthcare business. According to Chandil Pinchi, Chief Information Officer of ModuleMD, they wanted a hosting partner who could minimize downtime and ensure the data security of their ePHI and medical billing services. Pinchi addressed both needs with Online Tech’s hybrid cloud services.

"We needed a better service provider with more robust hosting capabilities and who was also HIPAA compliant," Chandil Pinchi, Chief Information Officer of ModuleMD said. "We feel there is a lot of value that Online Tech provides and as an early adapter of healthcare data security and privacy compliance, their services ended up being a perfect fit for us."

ModuleMD initially moved a single email server to Online Tech’s dedicated private cloud. Today their entire production environment is inside Online Tech's virtual private cloud, with redundancy between their Mid-Michigan and Indianapolis data centers. Pinchi said he was pleased that Online Tech manages ModuleMD's data storage environment for the company, which puts less stress on the internal IT team.

"The fact that Online Tech manages all our production infrastructure for us has helped big time,” Pinchi said. “Since we have moved everything over, our experience with Online Tech has been smooth.”

As ModuleMD's business has continued to grow, reducing their data footprint has become a priority. Online Tech’s Data Protection as a Service (DPaaS), is uniquely positioned to solve this business challenge because it reduces a company’s storage footprint while helping them retrieve fresh database copies faster. DPaaS is one of many other fully managed offerings Online Tech provides, including managed public cloud with SprawlGuard™ protection, Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), backup and cloud hosting services.

"I'm thrilled that Online Tech has been able to help ModuleMD achieve its mission of delivering efficient clinical, operational and financial performance of medical practices," said Jason Yaeger, Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Solutions. "I look forward to working with them for many years to come as they also explore what our data protection can do for them."

Online Tech was the first managed data center operator in Michigan to successfully undergo and pass a HIPAA audit and has passed each independent annual audit since with 100 percent compliance. Keeping with their culture of compliance, Online Tech also regularly reports against PCI DSS, SSAE16/SOC 1, and SOC 2 safeguards.

Online Tech introduces powerful new Azure spending management tool http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-introduces-powerful-new-azure-spending-management-tool http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-introduces-powerful-new-azure-spending-management-tool Azure management with SprawlGuard™ protection uses unique technology to provide detailed cost analysis, budget alerts

August 31, 2017, ANN ARBOR, MICH. -- Online Tech is pleased to announce the release of its SprawlGuard™ protection services, a unique proprietary technology designed exclusively by Online Tech. The service was specifically created to track and optimize public cloud spending, the No. 1 concern among mature cloud users, according to RightScale.

SprawlGuard logo

Online Tech introduces a powerful new Azure spending management tool.

Thanks to SprawlGuard™ technology, clients who use Microsoft Azure® can define precise cost centers and then see advanced usage analysis on a daily basis to get alerts and predictions on their total monthly spend, giving them complete control over their Azure spend management.

"Our SprawlGuard™ technology dramatically simplifies the process the client goes through to understand their Azure spend," said Kurt Schaldenbrand, Product Design Manager at Online Tech. "Clients have a hard time determining who is using what resources when, and when they use SprawlGuard™ protection, it does all that monitoring for them so they save hours of time every month. We let them define how they want to track their spending so that it's easy to monitor with just a few clicks."

The unique technology features a detailed SprawlGuard™ dashboard, shown through Online Tech's client portal, OTPortal. It's included in Online Tech's entire IT management platform, where clients can easily identify usage and spending trends across departments in a single pane of glass. They can also create a customizable cost center analysis view as well as set budgets for those cost centers and receive alerts if they are close to or have exceeded their monthly spend.

The driving force behind the SprawlGuard™ technology is the frustration organizations have experienced trying to understand and control their own public cloud spend. While Azure offers billing alerts, the SprawlGuard™ alert system is predictive rather than reactive. Azure only lets you define a budget and set simple threshold-level alerts per Azure subscription. SprawlGuard™ technology uses machine learning to offer detailed alerts and anticipate an organization's cloud spend that month, allowing them take charge of their cloud costs.

"We've consistently heard from our customers that they're being shocked by their bill every month," said Nick Lumsden, Vice President of Technology and Product Strategy. "I'm excited that our new SprawlGuard™ protection can help them make decisions about their cloud spend even before they get their bill."

Lumsden added that Online Tech is continuing to add new features to its SprawlGuard™ services to specifically increase workload optimization in addition to managing cloud costs. "We are diligently working on enhancing the intelligence of SprawlGuard™ protection to seek out abandoned, over allocated or non-persistent workloads," he said. "We believe these new features will help our clients seize control of their public cloud spend in a way that's unlike anything currently on the market."

SprawlGuard™ protection is available with Online Tech's Managed Microsoft Azure services. For more information, visit www.SprawlGuard.com.

Online Tech unveils new Hybrid Cloud with managed Microsoft Azure® services http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-unveils-new-hybrid-cloud-with-managed-microsoft-azure-services http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-unveils-new-hybrid-cloud-with-managed-microsoft-azure-services Hybrid cloud service allows clients to control their cloud spend and optimize their workloads in public and private cloud environments.

July 12, 2017, ANN ARBOR, MI - Online Tech is pleased to announce it has extended its hybrid cloud offering to support managed Microsoft Azure® services. This extension is the first step for Online Tech towards integrating the public cloud into its suite of hybrid IT products, which includes colocation, virtual private cloud and data protection services.

Managed Microsoft Azure

Online Tech solves major public cloud challenges with new hybrid cloud offering.

This new service includes SprawlGuard™, the first-of-its-kind technology that will help clients manage their monthly cloud spend. It allows them to set a monthly spending budget, or target, and then alerts them when it looks like they will exceed that amount. In the future, it will help to identify unused or under-utilized resources so clients can be more efficient with their public cloud spend.

"Clients will now not only effortlessly manage their entire environment, but also achieve transparency and control over their expenses with SprawlGuard™," said Nick Lumsden, Vice President of Technology and Product Strategy at Online Tech. "This will provide our clients with a single window into the cost drivers of their critical business systems, so they can harness the power of their multi-cloud strategy."

Organizations thinking of adopting a multi-cloud strategy often face many challenges. Public cloud bills are frequently unpredictable and complex, and businesses find that they need to hire additional personnel to architect and support their solution.

Online Tech's managed Azure services solve both challenges: Clients get a complete, fully managed public cloud that integrates with their existing virtual private cloud infrastructure within a single portal and with a simple bill. Their hybrid environment is fully managed by Online Tech's experts and support team for Azure's cloud platform, giving businesses additional depth to their cloud teams.

"One of the biggest challenges we've seen with our clients is the struggle to understand their public cloud bill," said Kurt Schaldenbrand, Product Design Manager at Online Tech. "We've effectively solved that challenge by offering our clients who have Azure a complete view into their total environment, where they receive a single bill for all services rendered, allowing them to easily track their spending and better manage costs."

"We're really excited that Online Tech is leading the pack when it comes to hybrid cloud," said Scott Larsen, Chief Technology Officer at Mingle Analytics. "This new service will allow us to easily manage both our public and private cloud and give us the support we need to meet the growing demands of our health care quality reporting business."

June 21, 2017, ANN ARBOR, MI - Online Tech, the Midwest leader in hybrid cloud, disaster recovery and data protection services, is pleased to announce it has completed its managed Azure beta program, successfully helping its beta clients manage their cloud spend and optimize their workloads across their IT environment.

Milhaus Logo

Online Tech solves major public cloud challenges for beta clients.

Earlier this year, Online Tech launched its managed Azure beta program with select clients experiencing platform, billing and technical expertise challenges within their Microsoft Azure® environment. They found that while several of their clients were eager to realize the benefits of the Azure platform, many were surprised by how difficult it was to architect their environment, understand their bill and manage their spend within Azure.

Through the beta program, Online Tech worked with these clients to analyze their monthly cloud spend and better track costs, helping them avoid surprise spikes in their bill. In addition, they were offered an exclusive preview into Online Tech’s public cloud management system within their client portal. This allows them to view and control their public and private cloud environments through a single pane of glass that is fully managed by Online Tech.

"The beta program showed us that clients of all sizes are looking for help and expertise for their public cloud environment," said Kurt Schaldenbrand, product design manager at Online Tech. "Those challenges include cost management, complex platforms, and a lack of expertise around public cloud."

This critical feedback from their beta program has helped shape their ongoing development and many of their suggestions have already been put into place.

"We've gotten a lot of valuable responses from clients about how we can improve our hybrid cloud product so that it offers everything they want while still remaining simple and easy to use," Schaldenbrand said. "Our goal all along has been to help our clients overcome the complexities that come with using and managing the public cloud so they can better track their cloud costs and seize control of their IT environment. The beta program helped us do just that."

Online Tech plans to launch its new hybrid cloud and managed public cloud product later this summer.

Milhaus partners with Online Tech for their Disaster Recovery as a Service Solution http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/milhaus-partners-with-online-tech-for-their-disaster-recovery-as-a-service-solution http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/milhaus-partners-with-online-tech-for-their-disaster-recovery-as-a-service-solution May 24, 2017, INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Online Tech is pleased to announce it has been selected as the disaster recovery provider of choice for Milhaus, a mixed-use housing developer. One of the fastest growing companies in Indianapolis, Milhaus designs, builds and manages luxury apartments in urban areas across the U.S.

Milhaus Logo

Online Tech protects mission critical systems for Milhaus.

Milhaus was looking to protect its critical telecommunications, file and accounting services with a disaster recovery solution. According to Steve Werner, Director of Technology at Milhaus, they wanted a local provider who could reduce their recovery time from a week to less than 24 hours and had the technical expertise to implement that solution. Werner solved both problems with Online Tech and their Disaster Recovery as a Service solution (OT DRaaS).

The combination of Online Tech’s experience and expertise with data replication service provider Zerto has worked well for Milhaus. “I think Online Tech has a great platform,” Werner said. “I just have a few clicks of a button, and I can access my server and get it up and running. It’s hard for a lot of other providers to say, ‘We’ll get your servers back in an hour.’ Zerto and Online Tech can do that.”

Online Tech will host Milhaus’s disaster-recovery-as-a-service environment at their secure, compliant data centers, along with file-level and image backup services. Werner added that Online Tech’s geographical diversity with seven data centers in three states was an important factor when deciding on a service provider.

"Milhaus is a forward-thinking company that is making a real positive impact in our communities and we are thrilled to be able to help them protect their mission," said Ruth Miles, General Manager of Indiana Region.

Online Tech has provided expert cloud hosting, disaster recovery, backup and support services for more than 20 years. Their locations throughout Michigan, Indiana and Missouri specifically have focused on secure, compliant hybrid cloud and disaster recovery services.

Online Tech Achieves Industry-leading Recovery Times with OTDRaaS http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-achieves-industry-leading-recovery-times-with-otdraas http://www.onlinetech.com/company/news/2017-press-releases/online-tech-achieves-industry-leading-recovery-times-with-otdraas May 3, 2017, ANN ARBOR, MI - Online Tech is pleased to announce in the one year since the launch of its disaster recovery product, OT Disaster Recovery as a Service (OTDRaaS), clients have achieved industry-leading recovery times for their applications. On average, their recovery point objectives (RPOs) dropped to under 12 seconds, and recovery time objectives (RTOs) decreased to just 10 minutes.

OTDRaaS achieves 12 second RPOs and 10 minute RTOs.

“I’m very pleased with the results we’ve seen in the past year, based on great feedback from our customers,” said Nick Lumsden, Vice President of Technology and Product Strategy at Online Tech. “With the continuous improvements we’re making, disaster recovery is simpler than ever. Those customers that are in a crisis and need to fail over can log into our portal and in four clicks be failed over and running, with our support team there every step of the way.”

It’s not just real-life disasters that Online Tech’s team provides support for. Clients who also want to test their recovery sites, whether for regulatory compliance purposes or simply for peace of mind, can do so quickly and without disruption to their production environments. Lumsden said it only takes four clicks for clients to be testing their disaster plan in Online Tech’s portal.

When OTDRaaS was first launched in early 2016, its goal was to provide a service for clients that would bring costs associated with disaster recovery down, while remaining easy to scale. Customers can consume this platform as a service, meaning they can buy just as much as they need, and they can scale it as they grow.

Lumsden said he’s pleased with how much OTDRaaS has grown in the past year, but that there’s more to come. “I’m happy with the results we’ve seen, but we’re looking ahead to improving our offering so that it remains the best on the market,” he said.

OTDRaaS is fully managed and comes with the complete support of the Online Tech team, which is always ready to help configure, test or initiate a failover.

There’s lots of demand that we think is underserved, and this is a great opportunity to provide companies in the area with our secure, compliant hybrid IT services.”

Bill Severn, CEO of Echo Cloud, is equally enthusiastic for the two companies to come together. “Echo Cloud is extremely excited to be joining Online Tech,” he said. “I believe the values we hold match Online Tech’s very well, and I think this will be a great partnership moving forward.”

Online Tech is a leading IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS) company who provides its clients with on-demand, secure and compliant hybrid cloud, colocation, disaster recovery and offsite backup services. The company's managed IT infrastructure protects mission-critical applications to ensure they are always available, secure and comply with government and industry regulations.

Many companies are challenged with minimizing their data loss and retaining their long-term data to keep their businesses running continuously. From a risk perspective, data protection and long-term data retention are critical, but they are also costly. Leveraging Actifio's long-term data retention solution, OnVault, enables their enterprise customers to reuse data for business intelligence, data analytics, compliance and data warehousing tools to unlock insights, while also reducing cost and risk for backup, disaster recovery and long-term data retention.

"We are really excited to be able to partner with a Actifio for such a unique long-term data retention solution," said Jason Yaeger, Senior Director of Solutions Architecture at Online Tech. "Long-term storage is particularly important for our healthcare clients, who often need to retain data for seven years or longer. These clients benefit from the instant data recoverability Actifio software offers."

"The EDaaS approach for long-term data retention and data resiliency delivers instant access to data to help customers drive business acceleration in other areas," said Ash Ashutosh, founder and CEO at Actifio. "Online Tech's customers now have a single data management tool to handle the entire lifecycle of data generated by business applications and other sources; from creation, protection, analysis and compliance, both on-premise or in the cloud."

Online Tech and Actifio will be hosting an IT networking event to celebrate and kick off their partnership April 6 at Drake's in Indianapolis. To learn more and to register, visit www.onlinetech.com/actifioevent.
