The WHIR: Online Tech to Open New Detroit Data Center

June 26, 2014: The WHIR's Cheryl Kemp reports Midwest data center company, Online Tech will open its Metro Detroit data center, August 1.

Online Tech announced on Wednesday that it will officially open its new Detroit data center on Aug. 1 as part of its continuing expansion. The 34,000 square foot facility in Westland, Michigan is one of five data centers in the Online Tech portfolio after acquiring another in Indianapolis last month.

The company was recognized by CIO magazine as one of the 20 most promising enterprise security companies. It offers secure cloud services which are particularly appealing to companies that need to be in compliance with certain regulatory standards such as healthcare and financial services.

“The purpose-built corporate facility will deliver the company’s full product line of secure, compliant cloud and colocation services for healthcare, financial services, retail and other companies in regulated industries,” Online Tech said. “Online Tech’s purchase of the property, planned upgrades, and enterprise-class cloud represents an investment of more than $10 million. It will also bring jobs and much-needed computing infrastructure to the expanding Indianapolis economic market.”
