Crain's Detroit Business: Nothing gloomy about this cloud

July 26, 2015: In 2008, when Mike Klein joined Online Tech Inc., an Ann Arbor data storage company, the cloud was that thing above you casting a shadow as you walked to lunch. Today, it is the force behind his company's explosive growth and the reason that the News-Press & Gazette Co. of St. Joseph, Mo., invested $20 million to buy a majority stake in Online Tech in 2012.

The company focuses on industries that face strict compliance issues, such as health care, financial services and retailing. Last year, Online Tech opened data centers in Westland and Indianapolis to go with two in Ann Arbor and one in Flint.

Klein, who is co-CEO with Yan Ness, talked with Crain's reporter Tom Henderson about cybersecurity and related issues.
