Online Tech, Michigan’s largest managed data center operator, is poised to take advantage of significant growth in demand in across the Midwest. Online Tech owns and operates three premium data centers, and focuses on high-availability, compliance, and security. Online Tech helps clients manage their growing IT demand with a full range of solutions from colocation to multi-tenant cloud to private cloud computing in an independently SSAE 16, SOC 2, HIPAA, & PCI compliant environment.
Job Overview: The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the budget, people, processes, and systems for our data centers, network, cloud, and storage systems.
What We’re Looking For: An “A” player highly energetic infrastructure manager with excellent technical, people, analytical, and leadership skills who wants to help us build one of Michigan’s success stories. This is a full-time exempt (salaried) position working in one of our three data centers, reporting to our CEO and responsible for the budget, people, process and systems for:
- Building, power, and cooling at three data centers, growing to five+ data centers over the next five years;
- Network, cloud, and storage systems:
- Network, including circuits/ISP; core routers; cable plant; access switches
- Cloud, including servers/SANs, and network switches
- Storage, firewalls, Universal Threat Management (UTM), load balancers, etc.
- A 24/7 technical staff of six people and growing
- A budget of $1M+ and growing over the coming years
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain and report on uptime objectives
- Handle prospect and client interaction during sales (prospect visits), deployments, and in the case of infrastructure incidents
- Work with outside independent auditors to ensure that we adhere to procedures
- Identify process improvements for audits, clients, and general operational excellence
- Work closely with Client Services Manager to ensure successful deployments
- Work closely with Director of Product Management and team to make the best possible use of infrastructure in place
- Plan and oversee upgrades or updates to data centers, network, and cloud infrastructures
- Select and manage vendors
- Develop and manage to a budget for staff, equipment expenses, and other operations costs
- Recruit, train and retain technical staff for 24/7 maintenance and operation of data centers
- Manage staff according to Online Tech’s standard processes and procedures (“OT Way”)
- Perform other duties as required to help the Online Tech team achieve its objectives
Required Skills and Background:
- At least ten years of overall experience in a technology field closely related to our work
- Experience working in a high-uptime environment, such as data centers
- Minimum of three years managing a technical staff, including budget responsibility
- Cisco and VMware certifications or 3+ years of hands-on experience in engineering and designing solutions, not just administering them
- Passion for what the cloud and outsourced data centers can do for the world
- Desire to be a part of the fast-paced, high-energy entrepreneurial experience
- U.S. citizenship or permanent lawful U.S. residency required
Desired Skills and Background:

- Four-year degree in a related field (computer science, engineering) or equivalent
